Last week at Avalanche...

Last week we shot interviews for our documentary on Alex Boye, the former boy-band star from England who now sings for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. We interviewed the president of the choir, along with the music director and two choir members. They all had nice things to say about Alex. We shot on location inside the Tabernacle on Temple Square and used our new Canon 5D camera. Earlier in the week we interviewed Alex at a recording studio in Provo while he worked on his new Christmas album. Stay tuned for more shooting details as we get footage of the choir during rehearsal this week!

Crystal Tones

We've been working with musician Ken Davis to edit a video for Crystal Tones Music. The video called "Crystal Bowl Awakening" features music for meditation. Ken plays crystal bowls to create sound and energy. Ken is from Australia and is a long-time musician and composer. He was fun to work with. "Crystal Bowl Awakening" is an ambient video with images of mountain streams and music, combined with the sound of vibrating bowls. The video will be show on airplanes and is sold on Ken's website.

inContact shoot

This week at Avalanche we shot a video at the inContact headquarters in Midvale. We filmed a building tour for the inContact User Conference (ICUC) which will be shown at their upcoming convention. We filmed on location and it was a fun, light-hearted shoot with one of their executives playing host as we toured the facility.

Last week at Avalanche...

We shot five promotional videos of presenters from Universal Accounting Center for their upcoming seminar called "How to Start and Grow Your Own Bookkeeping Business". The videos will be shown on UAC's website soon. We shot the video in our studio with a teleprompter and green screen. It was a fun shoot with the good people at UAC and we got some funny outtakes. It was a great day at Avalanche.

National Oil Shale Association Video

We are in Rifle, Colorado today to shoot footage for an educational video for the National Oil Shale Association.  Today we met up with the guys at DBS Helicopters who helped us mount the Tyler Mount for our aerial photography.  After getting the camera, nose mount, and CCU set up, we took off from Rifle and flew over the Piceance Basin, part of the Green River Formation, which is the largest deposit of oil shale in the United States.

Luckily, the weather was much better than expected and we were able to get plenty of great shots as we flew over this huge oil shale reserve.  We saw a few big elk, some cool canyons, tons of sage brush, and of course, lots of oil shale.  We also had the pleasure of being mooned by one of the very classy workers at an oil shale pilot plant.

All in all, it was a great day working with our client, Glenn Vawter of NOSA, and Paul and Doug from DBS Helicopters.  We also made it out to the Shell location and saw their freeze wall - thanks to Carolyn Tucker from Shell for granting us a very informative interview.

We shoot again tomorrow in Rifle, then head to Vernal, Utah for more interviews and videotaping, before heading home to Salt Lake City.  What a fun job - making videos rocks!

Rewards One Card Shoot with Apolo Anton Ohno

So we just finished a shoot for Global Marketing Group's new Rewards One Card today. The on-camera spokesman is Olympic Speed Skater Apolo Anton Ohno, who is also an owner of the program. We are producing a couple of televsion ads and internet campaigns for this new product. Apolo was a good sport about us making fun of his name in the ads.

We started at the Olympic Oval in Kearns and shot a bunch of B-roll of Apolo skating, working out, and generally looking cool with his bandana and soul patch. We then shifted gears, and moved locations to Salt City Burger, for a bunch of restaurant scenes. If you want a great burger, in a high class atmosphere, you can't beat Salt City. Thanks to the owner, Mike, for letting us shoot at his place, and for picking up
the tab for our crew tonight.

It was another long production day for Avalanche Studios, but I think we got some great footage and had plenty of help with some good-looking extras. We'll get a link posted to these ads when they are done in a few weeks. Thanks again to our crew, the cast, Apolo, Salt City Burgers, and to the guys at Global Marketing.
