Montage Deer Valley Shoot for Epiphany

It's tough work but somebody has got to do it. Last month our crew here at Avalanche Studios spent a few cold, but fun-filled days filming at the Montage Deer Valley resort in Park City, Utah for Denver-based advertising agency Epiphany Luxury.

We were producing a series of web videos for Fine Living Channel lifestyles guru Kimberly Schlegel Whitman. We filmed at the new and amazingly beautiful resort and spent some time on the slopes, in the spa, hanging out in the residences, and even took a run down the sledding hill. The resort is high on the mountain above Park City's main street and is a spectacular setting for a vacation, a day of skiing, or a location shoot. If we could ever choose a location to do video production in Utah, the Montage Deer Valley ain't a bad choice.

We shot with our Canon 5D camera rig with Paul Meyers as DP and the footage looks spectacular. Dave Lindsay acted as Producer, Jason Conforto directed and Eddie Johnson and Lindey Crow rounded out our crew. Thanks to Adam, Isaac and Heidi Lindsay for helping out as our talent.

Shoot for the LDS Church Young Women Broadcast

We were recently hired by the LDS Church to film segments for use during their upcoming Young Women's Broadcast. We spent the day with a group of young women in Highland, Utah as we interviewed them about their experiences they had as they walked from the Draper, Utah Temple to the Salt Lake Temple - a 22 mile journey.

We filmed interviews on location at the Draper Temple, as well as in the homes of the young women in the Highland area. Travis Cline was the DP and shot his usual amount of amazing footage with the Canon 5D. It was a cold, wintery shoot, but we all had a warm feeling in our hearts :)

Premiere of our Documentary on Alex Boye

Last weekend Avalanche Studios proudly premiered our new documentary film “Alex Boye: Backstage Pass” at the LDS Film Festival. It’s the life story of the British singer who was once a European pop star in the boy band Awesome, who gave up his rock-star lifestyle for his faith. The documentary tells his story of poverty, being homeless, his conversion to the LDS Church, and the path that led him to being one of the most influential members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

We went to court!

Last week at Avalanche we were busy working on a shoot for the state. We filmed a “Juror Instructional Video” for the Office of the Courts. We shot on location at the Matheson Courthouse downtown. We worked with Cristina Flores of KUTV news who was the host of the video. She was easy to work with and made the shoot very smooth. We came back a few days later and did B-roll of jurors deliberating on a trial. We had lawyers and a judge perform a mock trial for our footage. It was interesting to hear all the “jargon” about a potential gum snatcher. It was a fun shoot.
